Madrid Xtrema: MTB Marathon Spanish Open

Date: September 2, 2012
Place: Chinchón (Madrid)
Time: 8:45
Distance: 76 kms
Number of bikers: 600

In the last two days before the MTB Marathon Spanish Open, the distance was reduced from 102 kms to 76 kms. It was not good for GARVÍA BIKE – CENTRO TIR because we have been training hard every day during six months for long distance races.

Several failures in the signposting avoid 30 bikers to skip one control point and save 5 kilometers.

The race directors apply a “Stop & Go” penalty on us and after more than 15 minutes, they allow us to continue riding hard.
Finally, despite of my good final classification, the race directors decided to disqualify us due.
It is unfair how the bikers were paying the failures of a very bad race management.
Anyways, GARVÍA BIKE – CENTRO TIR keeps riding hard to be in the top in the incoming races.
